yeah... they're a pretty well known bank, but they're soooooo slow. I opened a savings account and they said they'd let me know in a few business days. About a week later and no word yet. Wondering if CDs are also this slow too

Synchrony is great. Clean, clear website, clean paper statements sent in the mail (which is rare these days), good telephone customer service. The op that posted this failed to mention that this offer ends December 4th and he/she got the early withdrawal penalty wrong. It says in the terms agreement "The early withdrawal penalty for a CD with a term of more than 12 months but less than 48
months will be an amount equal to 180 days simple interest on the amount withdrawn at the current interest rate for the CD". That means you will forfeit 6 months of interest on the amount withdrawn early which is pretty hefty, but so is the interest rate compared to others. If that is too much for you to bear then consider the 9 moth 5.50% CD which has a 90 day early withdrawal penalty.

They're anticipating cuts next year so the rates will not go up. This one has already been lowered.
