Buy yourself some k2 to go along with this. Google k2 and d3, why to take k2?

If you sun bathe instead of taking D3 supplements, would you still need K2?

Although you should have your vitamin D level checked and evaluated, 5000 IU could sometimes be excessive. If you haven't had your level tested, then 2000 IU would be the maximum recommended daily dose (as per various credible online articles). Your daily diet and sun exposure can provide sufficient amounts of both vitamin D and vitamin K (which should be taken along with vitamin D) but both diet and sun exposure are inconsistent. For example, if you eat broccoli, spinach or kale daily, then you're likely getting an adequate amount of K. Another factor to consider is how much D & K your multi vitamin provides (if you're taking one daily).
The worst thing to do is to blindly grab a deal on vitamins/supplements (especially certain ones), as you could easily be consuming too much or too little! It's imperative to do your homework when it comes to this!

You would need to have your D level tested to determine if you're getting enough vitamin D and you still need vitamin K regardless.

Agreed, but unless you have your vitamin D level tested and evaluated, your daily intake of vitamin D shouldn't exceed 2000 IU and your daily intake of vitamin K shouldn't exceed 100 mcg.

2000 IU is not going to be enough to bring you up to healthy levels, especially if you're super low to begin with, so yes testing is really important. Newer studies point to 4000IU as the baseline (see John Campbell's videos on YT) and personally I had to take multiple loading doses and 10,000IU/day for more than a year before I could get my levels from 10ng/ml to 60ng/ml. I have since dropped to 5K IU/day on doc advise to bring levels to around 50ng/ml.
