NeweggDeal Details
- AMD Ryzen 9 7900X - 12-Core 4.7 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor (100-100000589WOF), includes Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
- GIGABYTE B650M D3HP AM5 LGA 1718 AMD B650 M-ATX Motherboard with 5-Year Warranty, DDR5, 2x PCIe 4.0 M.2, PCIe 4.0, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, 2.5GbE LAN
- G.SKILL Flare X5 Series AMD EXPO 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5
This is one of Newegg's "Featured Combos" in their "AMD Combo Builder", with savings of $116, which is about twice as much as usual. The downside is only this combination of components applies, whereas normally you get to pick and choose, and create a combo with as few as 2 parts.
The combination is not perfect, but "good enough": 7800X3D is better for gaming, but the 7900X wins in productivity (more CPU cores). The motherboard is sufficient but basic with little expansion space as a micro ATX, and is missing Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. You can purchase a PCIe or M.2 adapter for $20-$30. The 6000 speed RAM is good (G.Skill is a good brand too, and Flare X5 is targeted at AMD EXPO), but the CAS latency is 36, whereas 30 is ideal.
I don't know how long this combo will last. I purchased it after not finding any great deals over BF. I noticed that it was missing from the Newegg "Featured Combos" list for a time, but I see it again now. Chase CB with PayPal makes it a bit sweeter (in addition to shopping through referral).
