I know they aren't that nice, but at this price, they are cheaper than most of the harbor freight models. Nice to have extra grinders when you're welding /fabricating.
A quick comparison is that these are 6 amp while the cheapest HFT Warrior (SKU: 58089) brand grinder is 4.3 amps. They're the same price at $14.99 but you have to buy two for the Porter Cable deal...not a bad deal really because changing discs sucks. Any welder or fabricator always has a couple grinders with a cut-off wheel, flap disc, or grinder disc ready to go. Same idea as having two drills, or a drill and driver for making holes and running screws or lags or whatever fastener.
Both are 12,000 RPM, have a guard, side-switch, auxiliary handle, and come with the appropriate wrench to change discs. HFT comes with a 6 foot cord but Porter Cable has an
8.5 ft cord...nice.
Warranty - Porter Cable has a 3 Year Limited - 90 day money back - 1 year free service. HFT only has the typical 90 day limited warranty.
So I think the win easily goes to the Porter Cable - more power, longer cord, and better warranty. I didn't get into shipping but TSC offers free standard delivery on most items when spending $49 while good luck with HFT on the shipping expenses. If you have both stores close to you like I do, it's kind of irrelevant. Hopefully that's helpful for someone.
In 2004 they sold to black and decker and stopped manufacturing in the US, that was the beginning of the end of their high quality days. That's around the time I bought one of their 18v cordless kits and found out how bad it was compared to the Dewalt 18v stuff. I still have their original 1/4 sheet palm sanders, still the best made. These grinders are pretty decent and not a bad deal for $15 each.
It tells you that they know their client base who generally keep a bunch of grinders (myself and most metal workers I know run 4) ready with different abrasives on each one rather than taking the time to switch out the discs constantly during a project.

Wow, I remember back in the day Porter Cable was a premium brand that made nice stuff. What happened to them?

Note you can move the handle to the other (right) side.
Too bad they didn't do that on one of them for the product photo of the pair. Just imagine yourself holding one in each hand, switched on, moving towards something needing serious grinding! Kinda like Wolverine!

The fact they sell it in pairs tells you something
Tells us that you're getting two??

Remember, switching to your sidearm is quicker than reloading.
If they come boxed separately you could gift the other grinder for Christmas.

They're still a good brand others just evolve and got even better as well.
