It's worth noting that it's UL 1278-tested and not UL 1278 certified. To be fair, even some mainstream manufacturers skip out on certification but space heaters that fail to protect properly are fire hazards.

I got the oscillating version of this and I like it a lot. I use the WiFi controls to make sure the room my hedgehog is in stays warm enough.

It's Remotely Control via App & Voice. So unfortunately you would use your phone, or Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, no physical remote control.

I'm not 60 but I don't carry my phone shoved up my lower body part every second so having a remote (my phone) sitting on the kitchen table when I am in the bedroom kinda defeats the purpose of having a remote. This is the reason I am not a fan of phone remote controls. Believe it or not I can go all day without even tweeting once! 😲
Instead of tons of remote controls in my home, I would like to only have one, my phone. No need to mess up and anyone in my home can control all devices shared

How quiet can the fan get on this? It seems the only difference between ceramic heaters is the fan quality.

I wonder if there is any real energy efficient space heaters.. All these 1500W takes more than 30 light bulbs energy I believe.
The only efficient electric heater is a heat pump, which is never going to be as cheap to buy as a space heater.

Same. Just bought it literally on Cyber Monday.

I love that it works with Alexa/Google too. RGB LED is a nice touch. Overall I've been happy with it, and don't regret it even though Costco has a stronger tower one for less (non-oscillating) that I just saw yesterday!

It's true that all portable non-heat pump heaters are basically resistance heat, so whether it has a fan or not, whether it's like this or radiant or oil-filled or strip heater, if it's running at 1500W continuous, it's putting pretty much 1500W of heat into the room in one way or another.

That said, there is one approach that could save some watts and money, if the house has some main source of heat, like central furnace or heat pump, but you have imbalanced colder room or area. If you aren't trying to bring that room up to temp 24x7, but are mainly just trying to warm up one or two people in part for some hours, then you don't try to heat all the air and walls in the room. Basically find heater to better heat the person(s) first, and let the heated person indirectly heat the air - still same amount of watts heating the room air eventually, but the person gets more of it before the room does.

So most resistance heaters warm the air, and then convect (circulate) the warmer air towards your skin. But some types also generate SOME percent as radiant heat, infrared waves that heat your skin directly and not the air around it - so the parabolic dish types (point at you), and from oil-filled radiator type (warm metal radiates but in all directions, so put closer to you). These are only better if you can direct the radiant heat towards the person in the room though (and then the warm person slowly heats the room through convection) - better in that you might find you feel warm at average say 500-1000 watts running rather than full 1500W (you are warm but room air doesn't need to be as warm).

Of the types that 100% heat the air, and circulate/convect it around the room, it would be ideal to direct that heat towards you first, rather than the rest of the room, in this same philosophy. But the challenge is if air circulates too vigorously, there is some direct evaporative cooling of the skin that can partially offset the benefit of the warmer air.

Yearly reminder: don't leave these cheap heaters unattended and don't plug them into power strips or extension cords unless they're rated to handle it.

Do not use smart plugs, they're not rated for space heaters.

Too many avoidable fires every year.

Which one was that? I just bought their usual Lasko non-oscillating tower for the usual $39.99 sale price ($10 off from $49.99). Unless they're already clearing them out at your store?

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed that you got the oscillating one for $15 more. I wouldn't think the Costco one is any stronger than this though, as they're all rated the same 1500w.

Totally agree. I'd also add that electric blankets are great option for heating with minimal electricity cost.

I set this up last night. It was easy to set up since my Echo detected it right away and the skill was added. I will say it doesn't get as hot as my previous portable heater. But it was, also, much louder. I like the smart/voice support. It gets warm enough for me. I think it's solid, quieter, and with the smart support, I think it edges out my previous portable heater.

I'm too much of a thermostat nazi to let my family have control of a device like this. They'd all have their rooms set to 85F 24/7.
Which is what rooms should be set to. Don't be so cold hearted.
