Is this resolution a little light for a 14" display these days? It's a bigger screen than the 13.3" Nano which has 2160x1350. I'd like a bigger screen, but to be able to put less on it?

got this one recently. Screen resolution looks fine for work / regular use. Can't comment if it is used for photoshop work / CAD.

How is the brightness and battery life? I'm coming from an X1 Nano because it's just a little hard to read the 13" display anymore. I'm not sure if I want to lose the resolution, the size, and the portability. But doubling memory and storage sounds great!

Agreed - for work / productivity 1920x1200 on a 14" is just fine and helps keep power consumption under control as higher res panels require more power. More important is that you get decent color gamut (which this one at 100% SRGB is fine on) and brightness.

I can't speak specifically on this model, as I don't own it, but I've owned other Thinkpads with matte / anti-glare IPS panels advertised at 400-nits (like this one) and they've been great. Would usually have brightness set at 50-60% when indoors. Generally speaking, one really only needs 200-300 nits indoors, but having that extra celing helps when you are in a bright, especially outdoor, environment.
