Thread Details
Ok, look, I know PSAs suck, and I'm sorry for posting it in Hot Deals (especially this late), but I've mentioned this in some of the Gamestop deal threads, but feel like it's important enough to post on it's own since I have not seen it announced on SD at all - and I searched all forums.
Gamestop has decided to make a number of anti-consumer changes to their Gamestop Pro Membership.
They announced this in an email on Oct 17th. I assumed it would have been posted on SD, but it hasn't. Hopefully everyone can redeem their points ASAP.

- Any points more than a year old expire on Dec 1. Maybe you can chance it and use them tomorrow, but I wouldn't try.
- As mentioned in other threads, the $5 monthly reward will "really" not be applicable on giftcards starting Dec 1. They tried to implement this in the past, but had enough negative feedback to retract it... it looks like it will really take effect this time.
- Any points in your account will expire immediately when your membership expires.
- The membership cost has increased to $25/yr

Did the ceo ever give the $1,000 GameStop gift cards to the rangers?
"You have points! Use them before they expire."
In that email it says something to the effect of:
"You have x,xxx points that will be a minimium of one year old on 12.1.23.* These points will expire on 12.1.23 per our points expiration policy."
You could also try calling customer service @ 800-883-8895 (got that from the app). I do not see any sort of indication within the app that points are expiring, or anything like that at first glance.

I'm voting with my wallet and not renewing my membership.

Welp, after coming back from a store.... I could use my $5 Monthly credit on a Steam Currency card, but the rep advised me the points in my account CAN NOT be used on digital currency - only physical items in store. I said "well, that Steam $20 card is physical" and she laughed and said no.
I think I remember this came up before and I think I can buy a physical item, then return in store for a GC.I then asked "if I redeem the points now for a reward, how long do I have to redeem it" she said she wasn't sure.Apparently, the best option is to redeem the points for in-store purchases, buy something, then turn around and trade it back in for trade-in credit which CAN be used on virtual currency. I need to figure out the best trade-ins. There's also some bonus on trading in 2, 3 or 4 games.

I can confirm that at my local store they would not let me redeem my in-store coupon I obtained from redeeming my points online for any digitical currency. Gamestop is about to see a massive amount of faithful Pro members drop off
I did redeem some points for "credit" and the website said the promotional codes would be good through AT LEAST 1/31/24.
Some super important information if you are redeeming points for codes:
Max 3 codes per online or in-store purchase.
EACH CODE HAS TO BE A UNIQUE REDEMPTION AMOUNT IE: $15, $10, $5. You CANNOT use 2x $15 or 2x $25. This applies to online AND in-store purchases!

So I spoke to store associate, who said this whole thing only starts 12/1. Meaning 12/1/24, would be the first deletion of points. Points we have right now won't dissappear until then. Apparently, but hard to fully trust lol
I redeemed them last night, placed an online order today (to use my final $5 GS Pro credit) and plan on trading Mario Wonder back in immediately, along with a few other games that are like $1 to get the bonus credit.
The store associate is correct that any points EARNED today (12/1/23) will expire in 1 year (12/1/24), but my post is really about any points that were already a year old.
Looking on reddit some dude had 125k points that were earned over a decade. He was not pleased, especially with GS blocking Point redeemed vouchers on virtual currency.
