How is this a "you" issue, when he's just handing over a paper gift card? You think you hand over paper better than this guy?
For me, whenever I use a paper gift card at a restaurant, the waiter/waitress always says "What am I supposed to do with that?" Then I have to explain to them how it works. Then they say "I'm going to have to get the manager." Then my wife hides her face and pretends she doesn't know me. But other than that, it's no problem.
It does

I wonder if the 10% cash back at Sam's Club with Chase credit cards works for eGift cards.

Doing some research reveals that using an egift card at restaurants can be a hassle. Anyone had issues using them at restaurants??

never had an issue. you just have to give the code to the waiter/waitress instead of using the machine on the table.

I mean, yeah. Pretty simple and straightforward. What kind of whack-ass "research" was this guy doing?

Currently, yes.

Dollar General (maybe Tree?) had 20% over Black Friday.

I have one that's for a list of other restaurants and Lowe's. It seems like it's treated as a credit card, does it only approve vendors from a whitelist or something?

yeah, those are different and must be ran as a credit card. I usually just tell the waiter/waitress to charge only blah amount onto those, then the rest on my credit card or gift card... or vice versa.

Happy cards?

Thanks and repped. I was trying to see in general. Trying to see if I should 'stock up' or it is a lukewarm deal that will pop every few weeks or months.

At CPK, any time I try to use gc, the wait staff almost always comes back saying it doesn't work. Then I double check balance on their website and they call their manager to fix it and then it magically goes thru.

Yeah Happy Cards. I wonder if it'll work on vendors that are not on the list if it's treated like a credit card.
