Slightly off topic. Has anyone noticed that when submitting an order in Uber eats you are shown one $ amount but the final receipt that comes 10-12 hours later has a slightly higher amount?
I submitted an order for$45.xx the other day and the final receipt was $48.xx. There was a promotion of B1G1 on one item. But the final receipt lowered the promotion value.
I have noticed this also with smaller orders it's off by a dollar or so. I contacted them this time but they completely ignored me.
HUGE PSA- especially for folks that use only Ubereats when being offered coupons.
Ubereats has started removing coupons previously given to you- lookup "shadow bans" on other SD Ubereats thread.
This shadow ban shenanigan basically boils down to Ubereats baiting & switching removing coupons that they previously give to you.
This happened to me today.A few ago I received an Uber in-app pop up 40% coupon for next 3 orders.
Used on first order no problem yesterday. Then today second order 40% shows on order checkout until after I placed I noticed the charge was more than the amount at order checkout.
Called support and they said their internal profitability algorithm said I no longer qualify for any future coupons.
Even worse- the system automatically modified the order I just placed a few seconds ago removing the 40% discount resulting in the higher charge - this is super illegal bait and switch move.
The 40% coupon which was still on my account a few minutes ago for a third future order and isn't supposed to expire until a few days later also disappeared from my account as well.
Consider yourself warned about Uber eats coupons. Uber can take them away as quickly as they offer you the coupon. They even stoop to borderline illegality by modifying in progress orders to remove your applied coupon…
Uber is a for profit company so they can do whatever they want. They don't have to give coupons to unprofitable customers but removing coupons mid-promo much less removing applied coupons to in-progress orders is super sketchy AF
FYI my Uber account is over 10+ years has tons of ride hailing history both from personal and work related trips with a 4.9 rating so I'm definitely a profitable customer on the ride side.

i have noticed this with home depot. its most likely an adjustment to your address billing tax percentage. depending upon how much your spend will vary the tax adjustment.
Sounds like he tipped $3. Off with his headdddd..
(No I don't drive for Uber)
sorry I should have mentioned that it was a pick up order, no tip option there.
But this just not one order I have seen the issue with as I stated earlier.

I will keep an eye out on the tax in the next order. But as far as I remember it does calculate the tax at the time of placing the order and the variation should not be this much. The issue was with how the promotion value decrease as far as I see.

AMEX offers 2% on Newegg transactions on purchases up to $250 (so roughly 3 gift cards of $100)
I bought 3 UBER gift cards, received within minutes and added codes relatively easily. Much easier than buying the same gift cards at Target or Paypal.

I've noticed this with nearly all grocery orders. Not only do they officially have the stance now that you will be charged whatever the actual in-store price turns out to be (which I've accepted), but they also charge a "service fee" on the final receipt that is not itemized when placing the original order, and is always substantially higher than any general fees shown at the time of order, even if the subtotal in the final receipt is lower. Contacting their support chat is worse than talking to AI and is useless, even if you have proof in screenshots.
