As someone who has never had liquid cooling and just used regular fans, how difficult is this to install? Or is there a more beginner-friendly version I should be looking at?

It's not really that much harder, typically the biggest thing is the installation of the fans and wiring cleanup but that's all done for you with this unit. just keep in mind that it is thick and as such you need to insure you have the clearance for the cooler.
