Looks like T-Mobile is offering a hidden $10 hotspot plan ($15 before Auto pay). This is for consumer and business accounts. It's for BYOD hotspot devices only and connected laptops (so no phones or tablets). Looks like you will have to contact T-Mobile to get this. There will be a $35 activation fee as well. See the attached flyer and link for more info.

$35 activation kills it.....just call it $50 for 30GB and be done with it.
Activation is one time

Can they tell if you put the sim on a phone, tablet, laptop, or hotspot?

$35 + (12x10) = $155/year
$50x12 = $600/year

Since you cannot use this plan with a tablet (or maybe you can, as I see the words "connected laptops" in the text of the promo) that has a sim.......what are the types of hotspots that would work? I am not familiar with that category of devices. What do I search for?

I would of course like to use an older model of iPhone like an 11 or 12 that allows hot spotting and uses a physical sim. But from reading the rules it looks like you cannot do that.

I can use my $10 unlimited Hotspot sim in any device, including phones. Just doesn't get voice calling

I have a T-Mobile Galaxy tablet on an unlimited data plan (but only allows 10Gb of hotspotting per month) and can move that sim to an iPhone which as huge points out does everything except voice. So I wonder if this plan will provide a Physical sim that does the same thing and could be actually used in a phone?

OP...we need a SOC code!!!!

Seems like a great deal, where's the contact information.
You need to contact T-Mobile. Either through chat (not 100% sure if that will work) or by phone.

Check out this Reddit thread. Looks like its "**MI30TI**" per that Reddit thread OP. I haven't added this myself. I have hotspot on my plan. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/s/Uqg3l26oJs

Anyone can easily tell from a simple IMEI lookup... my guess is they have a database of whitelisted IMEIs from supported hotspots and laptops.
