Deal Details
Looks like T-Mobile is offering a hidden $10 hotspot plan ($15 before Auto pay). This is for consumer and business accounts. It's for BYOD hotspot devices only and connected laptops (so no phones or tablets). Looks like you will have to contact T-Mobile to get this. There will be a $35 activation fee as well. See the attached flyer and link for more info.

Dumb question, but I have a tmobile line I don't even use…can I put that sim in an iPad? Simple choice line I've had for many years….

If not a Mobile customer, would this require a credit check? I see this as a good home internet backup if my main line went out and can easily be done with using my pfsense box.

I want to use an iPad in my vehicle but the gps won't keep up on wifi only. Would it work better if the device actually had a "plan"?

Following the reddit link: if you activate at a Costco T-Mobile kiosk, they wave the $35 activation fee.

Reddit comment:
Got it - 3 lines at $10 with autopay. The number you provided worked; but they said they couldn't waive the activation charge of $35, but stores might be able to to.
Went into a T-mo store but they also couldn't waive; they suggested I go to their kiosk at Costco (apparently activations through Costco are waived). 15 minutes later walked out with 3 activated sims / lines with no upfront charge; didn't need IMEI or any other detail other than personal id.
Anyone know if Costco's T-Mobile kiosks are available to non-Costco members? (In some states, I believe, pharmacy and alcohol are.)

Dummy question - what's the benefit over just using your phone as a hotspot (assuming your phone allows unlimited hotspot data)?

Do you need a postpaid plan in order to get this? I only have a prepaid plan. Also, does the $10 include taxes and fees?

Tmobile hotspot from phone I believe is 3g speed maxed. In another word, throttled.

I don't even use the 40GB that comes with my plan. What do I do with this 30GB?
I guess not use the 30 gB either? Great question, though

I was canceling a watch line, and the rep offered me to turn it into this hotspot line waiving the activation fee a few weeks back, great deal.

You can consume another 30 Gibson of data on top of the 40 you don't use, obviously.

In addition, the dedicated hotspot devices from T-Mobile are much more reliable than a phone's hotspot in my experience.

Just chatted with the rep over online chat. Got the plan with no issue as a new customer. Postpaid, no tax, Shipping fee and activation fee are waived. Total $10 each month with auto-pay. Great deals!

Since you cannot use this plan with a tablet (or maybe you can, as I see the words "connected laptops" in the text of the promo) that has a sim.......what are the types of hotspots that would work? I am not familiar with that category of devices. What do I search for?

I would of course like to use an older model of iPhone like an 11 or 12 that allows hot spotting and uses a physical sim. But from reading the rules it looks like you cannot do that.
I just got this plan and put the sim in my tablet. It is working fine.

They did not ask for an IMEI or anything so pretty sure you can just put it in anything.
