Looks like T-Mobile is offering a hidden $10 hotspot plan ($15 before Auto pay). This is for consumer and business accounts. It's for BYOD hotspot devices only and connected laptops (so no phones or tablets). Looks like you will have to contact T-Mobile to get this. There will be a $35 activation fee as well. See the attached flyer and link for more info.

credit check?
I guess, they asked for all my info (license number and ssn). I had a device but wasn't a tmobile customer.

if you're a new Tmobile customer, yes. I killed the order just to avoid the credit pull, and went back to the Biz CSR line.

You telling me this works for any phone as well? So an iphone it works? But are they giving you the tmobile sim card for this or you need a tmobile sim card for this?

So any laptop would work as well?

Also if you cancel it, then activate it again if there is that deal, you have to pay $35 each time? So say someone wants it for few months then don't want it anymore. You can continue paying $10 each month if you don't use it or cancel it. But the plan would be gone if you want to sign up again?
Anyone have the answer to this?

Well project 10 million still exists. Takes 5 minutes to qualify (only need to live where the school district gives free lunch, which is most major cities). No idea if the device will work for your purpose since it's T-Mobile prepaid though.. pm me
PM'ed you.

So, this is just a sim card that needs to be installed in some hotspot device? Can I use a cell phone like BoostMobile Motorola (unlocked) as a hot spot and for google voice at the same time? Or no phones from any carrier are not allowed and it has to be a hotspot device?

Thanks.

You can use it in a unlocked phone/T-mobile phone and use Google Voice.

The online rep is asking for the imei of the device I intend to use it with. Is this normal?
Yeah, but it shouldn't be necessary. The reps can proceed leaving that field blank. If they give a problem, maybe say that you already ordered a hotspot, but it's in the mail so you'll update them as soon as you get it. Or you could just pull a random IMEI from internet images, IMEI generator, etc. You're not actually going to activate that IMEI, so it shouldn't really matter as long as you get past the question.

So this SIM is not tied to a particular IMEI? You can put it in a new device and it just works?

Edit: my project 10 million sim wasn't working so I called T-Mobile tech support. They "refreshed" the sim and still my hotspot didn't work, so they ordered a new one for me.

I just put that hotspot sim in my unlocked iPhone SE and it's working Applause
Cannot send texts: "Free Msg: Unable to send message - Message Blocking is active."
Google Voice: tries to relay call through the carrier so doesn't work "your wireless carrier does not allow calling."
GV - went to Settings / Make and receive calls / selected "Prefer Wi-Fi and mobile data"
Can make and receive calls Peace
iMessage works on the assigned T-Mobile phone number, both directions.

received the sim today, and install google voice, set up and picked a phone number, when I try to place a call via google voice it keeps on telling me below msg

The service you are attempting to use has been restricted or is unavailable
msg la202ca65

What did I do wrong?

*NVM, finds out I need to go to setting, and change the "making and receiving calls" from "use carrier only" to "Prefer Wi-Fi and Mobile Data"

So, I could use phone with the sim card and google voice on the road, make and receive GV calls and watch youtube videos? So, it's basically a 5g GV phone line with 30gb of data for $10?

thanks

I currently have the prepaid plan $10/2gb/mo. I have used the sim with an unlocked phone as hotspot and it worked, except I wouldn't be able to make phone call; but I could use Google Voice without issue.
You might as well upgrade to this $10 plan and get 30 gigs vs 2 gigs.

Furthermore if you don't buy refill cards and pay via the prepaid portal, you have to pay taxes on the refill amount.

This one is autopay flat $10 monthly with all the taxes and fees included.

Seems really odd that they would need all that info. For "verification". I mean CC# only need you 3 digit cvc code to verify you are holding the card. I suspect database harvesting again. Selling all your personal data to Intelligence companies is very real. Something weird is up with that level of info gathering...
They explained that it is a post paid account.

The personal info asked is for identification verification purposes to establish a new account.

I did it over the phone via T-Mobile Costco CS (833) 428-1765.

Costco membership account number was required along with SSN and driver license number for verification purposes, and not for credit check.

They did ask for an IMEI of hotspot device to confirm compatibility and avoid issues after activation if you go use it on an incompatible device.

I said I don't have my hot spot device available at the moment, they said OK and left that step blank and proceeded after explaining the compatibility check.

All done in under 20 minutes.

Plan is Unlimited Hot Spot with 30 gigs high speed and throttled afterwards $15 a month - $5 AutoPay discount = $10 with all taxes and fees included.

Edit: added 800 number so other Costco members don't need to scour the thread to find it.
Went the same route through Costco member number and had similar experience. Took all the credential information (membership number, license, SSN, DNA sample with vial to be sent with sim card) but no credit check because no financing of a device. Autopay required a debit card and would not work with a credit card. Like others, I don't have a hotspot yet, and stated such to rep when asked for IMEI. They do so for a compatibility check. I plan to buy tmobile branded off eBay, so shouldn't be any issue.

I had tmobile a decade ago but am now returning as a new customer. Question: without a tmo phone number, how do I create an account to view bill online?

Also, anyone here that has an Inseego M2000 or M3000 (5g Pro)? Many complaints of persistent reboots. I just want something reliable so my kids can stream on their tablets in the backseat that won't require me investing alot of time troubleshooting from the driver's seat Smilie.

Thanks OP for posting, this is just the deal I needed. Thanks juan003 for sharing the Costco experience.
