If you take them outside of the house, the Bathys is simply too big. The PX8 is just right. In comparison to the big 3 (Bathys/PX8 and the much more expensive 5909), I have the PX8 at #3. There's a slight sibilance I can hear with them with some songs and the bass while punchy, doesn't really make me feel it in my chest. The 5909 doesn't really have any flaws but the sound feels a little too "clinical". If I was mixing, I'd stick with the 5909 but the Bathys is just more fun. Comparing all 3 plugged in via usb-c? The Mark Levinson 5909 takes the crown. They really, REALLY open up plugged in but they're stupid expensive.
Sound quality wise for the Bose, I'd put them on the tier as the Xm4/Xm5's. Pretty solid and the overwhelming majority of people would enjoy them...unless you'd tried better. Again they sound good but there are levels to this and the Bose/Sony shouldn't be really compared to the big 3 as far as SQ. To their credit, Bose and Sony have hands down the best nice cancellation. I personally don't fly much nor do I take public transportation so it's not a big deal. The PX8s do a solid job of keeping out the outside noise but the Bose/XM4/XM5 really feels like you're in some sound proof chamber. If you're studying at Starbucks or like to listen to music while focused on something, I'd lean towards those.
If you have a budget, these @ 350, I'm taking these all day every day. They're priced right. The tan version looks sexy. They sound great and they're built like an absolute tank. Bathys/5909 have a really good build to their credit but the PX8 literally feels like something I can wield and conk someone in the head lol. The joints are aircraft grade aluminum and are THICK! If you want to save even more money, the PX7 2 at Costco is the way to go.
That said, I just ordered a set of the tan ones. Gonna sell my black PX8's. I wanted the tan ones forever. Thanks OP! This is my first present to myself for the holidays

Click on either the tan or black ones. $350 is a f'en steal for these. I rotate between these, bathys and the 5909. All great in their own ways.

And if anyone is on the fence about getting Tan, they seriously look amazing in person.

Esthetic design is a matter of personal taste, but in my humble opinion the Px8 is the most subtly beautiful wireless headphone I've seen. As beautiful as it is, the quality of its build is anything but skin deep. From the swivel of an ear-cup, press of any button to sliding headband adjustments, Px8's exudes sophistication and quality with no extraneous creaks or crackles. In sound quality Px8 provides a fine rendition of today's aptX Adaptive Bluetooth sound that stands up to all competitors in its price range. Apple iPhone users might be less incentivized to commit themselves to the Px8's premium price since they're limited to the AAC codec.
In comparison to Px7 S2 ($399), Px8 ($699) provides tangible improvements in both sound quality and design, but the differences are only slight. Px8 is an esthetic luxury feast in look and feel, where Px7 S2 is its plastic imitation. But it is imitating what I consider best-in-class design and that ain't half bad. The overall sound-profile is similar in timbre and tonality, both could resolve engaging levels of detail and added enough lift in mid-bass to bring authority to aggressive tracks, but not enough to dominate. Both are suitably comfortable and lightweight enough to bring hours of enjoyment to an eclectic variety of music. Where Px7 S2 fails to live up to its counterpart is in Px8's cleaner rendition of finer details in only the most complex instants of certain tracks. However, one quantifiable advantage Px8 has over other competitors in the nascent luxury wireless headphone category is its price. Among new flagship wireless headphones out there, Px8 is priced below similar offerings from Focal and Mark Levinson.
I don't want to spend extra $120 for Px8
my temmate has one px8 and it blow away xm5, bose qc ultra for sound quality, and noise cancelling they are simialr.
px8 is noticeable better than p7s2, even better at p7s2e. they are made of different material, you get what you pay for. The difference is in the base. I do hear compare between those 2.
For $350, it is a steal.
only drawback is they are heavier.
in4 one
edit: did notice only black avaiable while checking out, looks like tan went OOS while checking out
