I picked up 4 of these just over a month ago. I agree, better than expected.
But they actually were going for even lower, at $9.97 each.

I have one and love it. The high tension top is plenty stiff enough for most uses.
$12.50 is probably best ever price.

Yup…I have one and it's great. I paid 9.97 for it last year.

This might be wishful thinking, but do you think this would support a laptop and mouse (with mousepad) and allow them to be reasonably usable?

Yes it will. I've got a 15" HP Ryzen 5 laptop that I put on top of it, and it's supported fairly well by two (of 4 total) full length longitudal aluminum 'rails/supports' that are spaced 7" apart, which support the laptop (and top fabric) very well.
Also, the fabric in the center 17" x 17" part is a strong netting, so it provides flow-thru ventilation to the bottom side of the laptop. The mousepad fits well on the remaining space either to the right or left of a laptop.

lol! This was the first thing I thought of I saw this. I'm the kind of guy who goes camping...so I can connect with my electronics.
