Where are the knife experts?
These get good review and the price is good but would you go with another brand like Wüsthof or zwilling?

Wondering the same. Looks like a solid deal, especially lifetime warranty + Costco return policy.

The HRC on these are probably more like 54-56. It's not a bad deal for the amount of knives and the type of steel but you are getting are nothing special. If you need a set of knives and want something decent and cheap this is probably a good answer. If you want really great knives, no. For the average person that just wants a nice set, I'd say it is a steal. But they will dull fast so you need to learn to sharpen or get a sharpening subscription. FYI they are Chinese.

I picked up this set a couple years ago when it came with steak knives. The knives are super sharp but do require routine sharpening, Easy to sharpen. My only complaint is that the handles started to crack on some of them at the handle rivet areas. I haven't tried to exchange them under warranty. They didn't cost a lot in the first place.

Same experience - handles started to crack. Reached out to support and got a brand new set of knives under warranty. Didn't have to send the old ones back. So now I have 2 sets.

That's amazing! Also since it's Costco if the manufacturer didn't cover you, Costco will. That's great news.

Well you can make it subscription or just send them out when you need, Knife Aid. I tried them once just to see out of curiosity. Came back pretty sharp. Some criticize the belt grinder technique they use but it's nitpicky.

you ve got to read their history. basically, the owner couples all have american names. they grown up in china. tried to find a market in the western world but failed to find a cheap place. so they went back to their own homeland china and made the knives there, using german the western name to add to their product description. then the chinese character engraved to their product. think of how the japanese car industry would be now if they started their honda and toyota written in japenese character as their logo in america market.

If you think that is mind bending, wait til you hear that some of the best Japanese knives are made with Swedish steel.

They seem decent, only thing that give me pause is the handle, unsure how the weight would be with poly handles

But this part

Made in Germany

Is why $100 more than Costco knives, so is that worth it for you?
