I was looking for a drive dock because we clone drives from time to time. This one met my M.2 + SATA need, but then realized it will offline clone from one drive to another. Lowest price it's been on Amazon, 47,000 reviews.

47,000+ ratings, when filtered down to this specific product, is actually only 60 ratings with 41 being reviews.
I can't tell if the M.2 interface supports SATA drives (B+M-keyed). The reviews and Q&A are a mess because they combine so many products on one page.
That's actually just the right amount! It mentions all the stuff it does, leaving no questions!

Then don't buy it.

What even is this weird thing? Anyone actually need to clone some harddrives?

1. a USB to sata adapter is like $8 bucks on amazon...

2. a NVME enclosure is like $12 bucks on amazon...

3. Tons of clone software for free... I use Macrium Reflect Free from MajorGeeks.

4. This product is over priced and dumb.
An $8 USB to sata adapter doesn't work on 3.5" drives!

I bought the sabrent adapter at BB and it works great, BUT the free software will only work with adapter plugged in and the Clone function would never work.

don't need one, but interesting. Especially if you're going to buy a ~$40 M.2 dock anyway. (YES, you can get a ~$20 M.2 enclosure, but that's not what this is. If you want a dock, you want a dock. Don't compare apples and oranges by saying you can get an enclosure cheaper.)

Would, if you have a separate SATA power adapter for the drive. Else you need a little more expensive powered USB to SATA adapter (~$20?).

And... can you point out where the M.2 dock is on that one?? Seeing as that one of the main uses of the one posted here, you surely wouldn't have ignored that... right?

What's offline cloning and how does it differ from non-offline?
It's cloning done with this gizmo, without computer.

One redundant - PCIe assumes NVme, But still leaves with question about SATA support and bandwidth - 5 or 10
