Technically the lid is mainly added for storing the griddle not cooking.
You don't close the lid when you cook on this. Most griddles are designed this way. It's not a grill and heat doesnt circulate under the hood very well.
The bread test made me think twice about ordering this griddle. Have been watching for a Weber or Traeger griddle deal for a while.

Bread test and pretty extensive breakdown of this and many other griddles:

I've had a 36" blackstone that I love but if I was buying now I'd seriously consider this. Assuming it's accurate, I love the precise temp setting knobs. Worth nothing is the unit needs electric power to use.

Also, the 26" is $249.99 after $450 off as well.

I've been tracking this for a few months now- consumer reports ranks this as the top griddle.
Since there are so many still available, (1269 at time of this comment), I'm going to wait to see if it will continue to drop. Seems like a fantastic griddle for the price

I don't understand why they made the lid so thin. If you try to cook something big on the griddle you might not be able to close the lid.

Serious question - How is this different/better than any of the Blackstone griddles?

I believe these units require AC power to operate the temperature dials.

36", 3 burner...eh. It really depends on what your needs are.
Many flat top grills this size are at least 4 burner, which gives the user a bit more control over warm/cool areas of the cooking surface.
I personally use the Member's Mark 36" 5 burner. For my cooking style, I prefer the greater flexibility with 5 zones over 4. (or 3, given this particular model.)

Takes some time, but there is a way to make this deal slicker. Target has various circle giftcard bonuses for various minimum purchases (mine was $10 circle bonus with 2 $50 purchases) and a $10 giftcard with a $100 giftcard purchase. I was able to do 3 separate giftcard purchases (2x $100 1x$150) and each came with the 5% redcard discount. Total cost was $357 for the grill with an additional $10 in circle cash and $30 in target giftcards. Worth it IMO!

Never heard of this brand, are replacement parts easily available? I figure those dials with the displays on them will definitely become corroded at some point and need replacement.

Off the top of my head having seen one recently in person: The blackstone is like an entry level Hyundai. While the Loco is like a Lexus, or luxury small SUV.

Overall better and heavier construction. The burners seem to be separated as well (better heat control). Finish paint feels like you could rub gravel on it, to no effect. If you love your blackstone, but it's falling apart, this would be a no brainer upgrade that should last twice as long.

I've got a Sierra Nevada Pitboss with lots of life left myself. But if I was in The market for a new one, I'd be all over this one.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Reddit seems to have posts about issues with the burners and smarttemp going out. Are these reliable? How easy is it to get parts?

Reviews at Lowes and other stores seem to indicate the same issues. I was tempted, but it seems like these are full of problems.
