FYI I got this last time it went on sale for $349 and I love everything about it with a minor exception of the tiny grease trap hole. With my thermopro infrared meter, this gets to 694* across 90% of the cooking surface.

I second this opinion as the exact same happened to me. I purchased version 1 and within 2 weeks of use one burner went out. Contacted the manufacturer and they said the part was on back order and would arrive in 4-6 weeks. I returned to the store for a full refund. This has been the price for months now and not a new sale. They are trying to sell off all version 1 units.
The fact that of the only two improvements from version 1 to 2 is they already needed to redesign the burners should say it all. They know there are issues but rather than recall them, fix version 1 and resell they would rather have unsuspecting people buy it, realize the issue and send a fix in the mail.
Version 2 has great reviews though and I am waiting for it to go on sale. The looks of the unit are awesome just wouldn't touch a version 1 because you will run into issues, its just will you experience it immediately or in 3/4 months when summer hits and you really want to use it.

Agreed.. stay away! I purchased a Series 1 in December from HD at this price, plus got the additional $50 off by opening an account with them. Delivery was great, came via a freight service due to the size and weight of the box. Assembled it and immediately had issues though.
The griddle maintains a set temp by turning the burners on and off, similar to a gas oven. The issue is it doesn't always reignite the burner when it tries to cycle back on, and then throws an error code and shuts the burner off completely. Two of the three burners on mine did this routinely. I tried to use it, but it was too frustrating. The center burner would refuse to start back up after it shut itself off. I took it back to my local store, they returned it with no questions asked.
I've still got a Loco though. I was actually able to find a Series 2 at a local reseller that sells return pallet items. Ended up getting it cheaper than what I paid for the Series 1, and it works flawlessly!
Loco knows the Series 1 is bad, it's crazy that they're selling them off knowing folks will have issues with them. Even at the clearance price, it's bad business IMO.
