As a police officer, I love radar detectors because people that have them tend to drive within reason. That being said, almost no departments use handheld radars anymore, it's either moving radar that is almost always on but can be set to stationary mode or handheld infrared lasers, or lidar, such as the Pro Laser Iv. These units will give you warning for moving radar but they won't for lidar. The cone for the laser is 3 feet at 1500 feet, and it doesn't bounce around down the road like radar does. The return speed is less than a second and we aim it at your grill area, not your windshield. I may shoot a laser at you and it doesn't even register on your detector.
That being said, people with detectors tend to be safer drivers, definitely driving slightly above the speed limit but not below the speed limit which is statistically more dangerous to a large extent. This deal seems good and the brand is reliable.
Anyone who wants the R3 over the R4 is crazy. I own both and the R3 has way more false alerts than the R4. I love the more advanced warning of the R4 over the R3.

I just visited Best Buy in Gwinnett and they are full price. Might be YMMV.
I found it by doing a SD search for this model. Didn't see personally but just wanted to make sure not to buy an EOL product maybe thatw why it's cheap.
Sorry a stupid question. I really need this, but am I allowed to put it on by law? In some state, if any accident happens, am I going to be in trouble when police see it?

I ended up ordering one. I've had the dfr7 for many years now and always been looking for an upgrade. I think buydig has free returns from what I saw when I was browsing quickly so we'll see how it is. My main issue with the old one is picking up K band off mazdas but apparently it's an issue for many detectors

Yep yep same with Mazda's. My girl has a '19 CX5 we drive around often compared to my gas gussler. When we trade cars in and out of the driveway its always fun setting off the radar and muting it. Finally had enough and locked out our driveway.

When I went to a BB in Alpharetta and Cumming they didn't have these on the floor anymore nor could you pull it up on the site. When did you visit?
I was there returning a switch and saw one on the shelf behind the return counter. I asked the girl to check the price and it rang up 379.99. This was on Nov. 17.
Does the R4 suffer the same speaker issues as the R3 and the dfr7? I've had to replace the speaker in both of those. The new speaker (quality questionable) is already out on the R3, after less than a year.
