I bought this at the same deal a year or two ago. I thought it was a "great deal".

These newer batches of Aventus last about 4-5 hours tops, meanwhile the $30-60 clones of it last longer and smell just as good. I'm still mad it performs so poorly for what it costs.

Personally prefer more Mont Blanc Explorer than Club De Nuit as an Aventus clone. Receive significantly more compliments from it as well, but taste is subjective

Might want to check Nordstrom or Saks Fifth. Never seen it at Macy's or Sephoras. You can always order a sample at micro perfumes to try before you buy:

Growing up I never thought that I will spend money on whale vomit (ambergris) or deer nuts (musk). Human evolution is interesting.

2018 2019 was already weaker though
For the most part. There were a couple standouts but most were not as good as 2016 and 2017 batches, across the board. I won't compare the batch I bought this year to something like 16H11, 16L01 and definitely not like 16M01

I bought a bottle around 2015 as a gift to myself, and still have. I like the scent, but I just buy knockoffs these days, which smell as good but different in their own ways. People will try to say that Creed or some other perfume house uses superior ingredients, but that's a crock of shit.

For starters, the ingredients for the same perfume can vary greatly between countries because countries ban different ingredients. They also tend to be reformulated over time to account for changes in what's banned, what's available, and costs. Even if fragrances could control these factors, cost doesn't equal quality.

There's 128 fl oz in a gallon, and at $250 per 3.3 fl oz Aventus is essentially $10000 per gallon. In 2012 ambergris was valued at $10000 per pound. It's unlikely a gallon of this stuff has a lb of ambergris in it, but I'm sure some people will justify the astronomical cost of designer fragrances.

Long story short, buy what smells good to your nose, and don't buy into hype/marketing.

Jo Malone in general has no lasting power. Don't waste money on that brand.
Totally agree. Jo Malone is the fragrance equivalent of a firework. Loud and pretty at first, but gone very quickly.

Overhyped, overpriced and way too common to use as a signature scent now. Put in a little effort to find a scent that is more unique and actually suits you better. Buying fragrances simply because they are popular is lame AF.
Yep. I've been in the fragrance game a long time. Best thing to do is find something YOU enjoy. You'll feel better about yourself and feel happier having done the work to find fragrances for you. You'll radiate confidence.

Don't worry about getting compliments. People will smell the stink of wanting validation more than whatever you are wearing. It's not bad to be recognized, but it shouldn't be a primary motive.

Don't rely on just one scent. Switch it up. Our noses are meant to detect differences... So having a variety of scents will give your nose a rest and help you appreciate the ones you love more.

Find notes (fragrance components) and scents you enjoy, and research them and find other variations and scents that use them. There's some great stuff online....so much more than what is in a single store.

My faves? Pineward does some amazing scents, as does Anna Zworykina, Meo Fusciuni, L'histoire de Parfums, and Swedoft. Love me some woods, leather, tobacco, and labdanum. Pineward has reasonable prices for sample packs... Very fun to try some great scents. Check them out.

If you want to check clone houses that make good clones of niche fragrances, check out Dua or Alexandria fragrances. Good quality.

That's why one will be fine with knockoffs. For every important reason one uses colognes, there's literally no difference.

The economics of Aventus are absurd. I don't think anything says more about people's obsession with brand names, and how good Aventus clones actually are, than looking at the price of empty Aventus bottles on eBay - $35-$50 bucks and up - more for bottles marked with the numbers of prized batches.

Discussions and comments about "compliments" amuse me for their utter cluelessness. Unless it's a man who wants to actually lay with you, a "compliment" is simply someone's polite way of telling you that you are wearing too much.

I bought the Silver Mt Water for $175 recently and the Viking was $190 or so recently. Personally I prefer some of the Tumi scents and those can be had at great prices when they are getting rid of the gift sets. Also some Tom Ford scents go on sale on Costco and I find some of those to be nice and so does my wife.

Club de nuit by Armaf is a pretty good clone. I have aventus and aventus cologne and I think CDN lasts longer. Smells slightly more citrusy and "synthetic" though
I ordered the EDT version by mistake, instead of EDP. Hopefully it's still okay.

I have found Lomani black storm to be much better and potent compared to cdnim. Almost similar price ~$35.

Not worth it anymore.
There are far higher quality juice from the other brands. If you really want a high end bottle of aventus juice, can go Nishane Hacivat.
If you are on a budget, you can pick up CDNIM (old batch is best but newer batch once macerated is good too). But go up from 30 to 40 and you have imo best of the bunch Afnan Supremacy Not Only Intense. I loved it so much I bought a backup bottle. Lasts 12+ hours easy. great price at 40$ too .
I tried the Hacivat and it was awful, made me sick from how strong and smoky it was. Didn't even think that was possible from a scent, that stuff was so strong it took effort to wash it off.
