OK, I do not mean to TC, but I've made it a point to bash every Gateway posting I see. Many, many SDers bought laptops built/sold by Gateway during the Christmas season last year, and now many, many are stuck with junk, broken hinges, flashing screens and just going plain old kaput. And I do not recall reading of a single one of those folks ever getting satisfaction w/ many not even getting a response. Be forewarned as this may happen to you. Caveat emptor.

I'm in the same boat...Just the epitome of barely functional equipment NOT made to last. That display will disappoint you.

I bought mine, 14" w/i5, 16 GB RAM & 512 SSD less than 2 weeks before last Christmas. The fingerprint reader quit functioning in less than a month, however, thus far, it seems OK. It would be nice if other folks would chime in also whenever there is a posting for Gateway. It's a travesty to treat customers in such fashion as those people, and they should be exposed as much as possible, I believe.
Have they fixed any of the build quality issues?
Do they have a customer service team yet?
The specs are great for the price but the company has such a poor reputation at this point that I am afraid to buy it.

did you find the laptop to slow down when having multiple tabs open? i thought 16 gb ram would be enough .
Gateway used be Dell's #1 competitor. They used to be really good too. Gateway acquired eMachines in 2004 but they couldn't recoup their losses. After 7 years they were bought out by Acer.
