It is not until 3090 / 4080 / 4090 series has the length been increased.
And funder 4070 that performs better actually is shorter at just 9.6 inch. The exact width of MATX/ATX.
this is one of the biggest resin people want powerful mini PC opt for Nvidia
This deal is about as good as the $440 6800xt deals that have been floating around for the past half a year or so. At one time, we even got Starfield with the 6800xt deal.
Pretty good deal, but not amazing.
I'm more of an Nvidia guy and will probably upgrade to a 5 series when it comes out. I really didn't want to support the 4 series and my 3080 died but I always get my son AMD stuff.
Anyways, there's a huge silicone lottery element at play with this card. Allot of them run at 200-240w with a substantial over clock. After fiddling around with both for several hours, mine is significantly faster than my son's at a lower wattage.
The better it responds to lowering the voltage, the more overclocking potential it has.... I think there's some wonkyness with the chiplet technology and the voltage regulation and how responsive they are. Around 210-230w seems to be the sweet spot for the highest clocks on a good card, there's some kind of protection that limits the clockspeed at higher voltage, it will show that you are applying a huge overclock but it won't actually run at that speed unless the voltage is lower.
The general consensus is that almost all of them run a little better with varying undervolts applied and some clock really high and some don't.
So your milage is gonna vary a bit. I think this is the card to get, a heavyily discounted 6800 xt is definitely a compelling value tho but it's big, uses more power, and has worse 1% lows.
