I've had the opposite experience. I've had outdoor jobs where Frigidaire fridges lasted decades outside in the shade in the south. I also own one from when I got married in 2004 that's been going strong nearly 20 years now. I will say that the rest of the kitchen set died years ago, but the fridge is still perfect.
$500 for retail is nonsense for this fridge, and this deal is been posted like every month, I've seen it at least 4-5 times.

I know what you mean. I'm hit with with a double whammy... my team won't make it and half my beer freezes in this fridge yet the freezer doesn't
This is probably true of all fridges, but I was working on a home wiring issue and it turns out that this fridge will test for continuity across the hot/neutral prongs, which at first I thought was a problem. I looked it up and apparently this is a common thing with fridges. Just useful to know if you happen to be rewiring a circuit a few days after getting a new fridge.
