High fructose corn syrup warning. Why apples of all things need even more sweetness is beyond me.

Ingredients: Apples, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

Why do they need to add HFCS to applesauce?

The unsweetened version is a much better option! Even if you're compelled to add a teaspoon of sugar to it, it's far less than these contain! Not to mention that it's HFCS vs. sugar!

I'm going to guess they use lower quality apples that aren't fit to eat whole/fresh (or just leftovers of all types of apples, so the flavor is inconsistent), and they tweak the balance of the corn syrup and acid to make the end-product taste consistent across multiple batches.

Cheap filler, and makes foilks into sugar addicts, then turns them fat, then big pharma sells them drugs to 'cure' them.

Yeah, it is ridiculous how they put HFCS in everything. Get the unsweetened and it is plenty sweet enough, and you taste more of the apple.
Happy they are finally doing the same with fruit cups, no sugar added, using just fruit juice or stevia- though word of warning, a few that proudly state "No Sugar Added" and/or no HFCS, add sucralose or other artificial sweetener.

Yeah, though I put stevia in the same boat as sucralose. To my taste buds it is nasty; every time I accidentally buy something with it in there- usually drinks- I can immediately taste it and it leaves an awful aftertaste. Gimme real sugar or nothing.

Agree, I like the organic version that Costco sells. More expensive than this of course but so much better.

Was just about to buy and then checked the added high fructose corn syrup. Bummer.

I'd assume that they would use the same apples for the unsweetened version (which would need to be very consistent in terms of flavor), so it's more likely that they use the same apples across all of their products and just over-sweeten this to appeal to sugar addicted kids (and adults).
