I agree, it sucks, but it's not all that hard. Get a large personal-item sized backup from Amazon and you should be able to back a week's worth of clothing in it (assuming your visiting a warm weather place). Use toiletries from the hotel and crap any other small things you might need from a store once you're there.

I got gold status this year (silver last year), but I'm still figuring out the benefits. Not so much the bags, I didn't know you still get to use the "benefits" of your status on BE. I have to do more reading on it I guess. I have 2 upcoming united flights, they were about $80 more each R/T for regular economy vs B.E.

That's the least of my worries with my wife. She literally brings the whole pharmacy with her when she travels. on the side note, you would need bulky clothes if you're coming from a cold climate state.

Ya, you still get the elite benefits which is great as BE ticket prices basically work like a non-BE ticket, albeit with fewer miles earned. I flew on a BE ticket recently and me and another person I was flying with got upgraded to 1st class laugh out loud

The personal item for most airlines is 20x14x8. There are some shopping bags with fold flat wheels that work great for this. I"ve flown Seattle to vegas on spirit and frontier for $29 ea way a dozen times now in 3 years. The original black canvas bag with wheels has finally fallen apart. holds enough clothes and snacks for 3 days plus. Each passenger can bring a bag this size, if you have kids.

Fairs are about 10x lowewr adjusted for inflation than the 1960s. If you want we can raise the price of one way ticket to $800 each way in the slow season/ but you do get a free bag and a chicken breast dinner with green beans.

Just did this for my Hawaii trip. They wave the yearly card fee, you get a 300 dollar credit for your tickets and you + one more person on your reservation get free carry-on and checked bag. I put all my travel expenses and got another 25000 miles bonus. Might not be the best credit card but I think I got my money's worth for the credit pull.
