Do you want same performance or same specs. The reason I say this is because a desktop graphics card will ALWAYS be more powerful than a laptop graphics card of the same nomenclature. For example, a laptop 4090 is roughly somewhere in the desktop 4070ti/3090/3090ti in terms of performance. It has always been that way since the first laptop gpu (I've been computer gaming since the 90s).

I've seen 4070ti's dip into the low $700s via Zip/Newegg. If your main purpose is gaming, then a 7800x3d as your cpu is probably your best bet. I'm too lazy to look up but I'd guess you could probably build one for around $1300-$1400 without a monitor.

Now if you wanted exact specs, a desktop 4090 in today's market is almost $2 g's alone and are way over msrp. With a desktop 13900K/motherboard and the rest of the miscellaneous items, you're probably staring at close to $3 g's. Granted, you'll smoke this laptop in gaming.

So in short, if you want equivalent performance, you'll save a pretty penny building a desktop. Of course, that means you can't take it with you to the library, on a plane, in a hotel room etc etc.

Personally, I think the most versatile combination is a desktop + an ultrabook.

This isn't just a video card lol. It's the best laptop out there. Doesn't sound like you are the target market. Maybe check into chromebooks.

Very much so. The Legion Slim chassis is closer to the Gen 7 that we all loved.

Are these the Legion 7's where Lenovo did some major cost cutting like going from a metal to a plastic chassis and glass to plastic trackpad to make room for the overpriced Legion 9's?
i just got the pro with 4080 its aluminum and built like a rock. The keyboard has very SLIGHT bend but not nearly as much as the cheaper plastic one. The laptop itself has blazing fast specs, ive clocked 160 fps in COD mw3 1440p. i played Alan Wake 2 on full settings 1440p solid 90 fps, and the fans are very well places but pretty loud. I dont know who that really affects (this is a granted with gaming laptops) but ive been running it in my living room hooked up to my OLED over my ps5 and i love it. when i do use it on the go it hasnt been any hotter than other laptops ive used which is impressive for a 4080/ intel combo

Ah, so you need gobs of gpu memory. Have you considered a used 3090? At least in my local market (So Cal), I've seen a few for $600-ish.
The 4070ti can be found for 450, but the 4090 is more than 3x that in my local market, sf bay area.

Not worth the price. Cheaper 4070ti around $1800 desktop outperform this

Sounds like it. However, people will come crawling on their knees to buy it which will continue to reinforce Lenovo to cheapen future models.. frustrating.

4070ti for $450?!!!!!?? My goodness I'd be all over that. People are still over pricing them in So Cal.

*edit* I just looked up SF's craigslist and you're right. I see two of them. Man...

Great rundown. Your comment about planes needs to be better understood, though. Outlets on planes will cut out with anything over 110-140 watts. These monsters pull over 250, so you won't be playing for longer than about 35 minutes.
