Do you want same performance or same specs. The reason I say this is because a desktop graphics card will ALWAYS be more powerful than a laptop graphics card of the same nomenclature. For example, a laptop 4090 is roughly somewhere in the desktop 4070ti/3090/3090ti in terms of performance. It has always been that way since the first laptop gpu (I've been computer gaming since the 90s).

I've seen 4070ti's dip into the low $700s via Zip/Newegg. If your main purpose is gaming, then a 7800x3d as your cpu is probably your best bet. I'm too lazy to look up but I'd guess you could probably build one for around $1300-$1400 without a monitor.

Now if you wanted exact specs, a desktop 4090 in today's market is almost $2 g's alone and are way over msrp. With a desktop 13900K/motherboard and the rest of the miscellaneous items, you're probably staring at close to $3 g's. Granted, you'll smoke this laptop in gaming.

So in short, if you want equivalent performance, you'll save a pretty penny building a desktop. Of course, that means you can't take it with you to the library, on a plane, in a hotel room etc etc.

Personally, I think the most versatile combination is a desktop + an ultrabook.

This isn't just a video card lol. It's the best laptop out there. Doesn't sound like you are the target market. Maybe check into chromebooks.

Very much so. The Legion Slim chassis is closer to the Gen 7 that we all loved.

no TB4, no thanks. are you supposed to use USB-C dock with this?
I thought so too but people who bought and received this model are saying that it does indeed have TB4. it's just not advertised for some reason.

So this is the best 4090 laptop to get right now especially with the discounts? Any idea how long the coupon code is valid for?

Yes it's the best laptop you can get short of an OLED or Legion 9i for almost twice the price.

No idea about the coupon it's 30 says return full refund if you change your mind so I'd just buy now and think later

Are these the Legion 7's where Lenovo did some major cost cutting like going from a metal to a plastic chassis and glass to plastic trackpad to make room for the overpriced Legion 9's?
Yes, you're correct.

Meh think this cost cutting complaint is overblown. The top is still metal and the laptop costs lower in comparison to prior generation model when taking into consideration the cost jump in 3080 vs 4080 GPUs. I will take my $1800 Black Friday price over paying more for a glass track pad

I was able to get this for $2149 before tax with the i9 13900hx, 1TB ssd, 32GB Ram, 4090 and 500nit screen.

Coupon code from the first page
Military discount
$100 online code (had to chat with support)
Tried other codes and couldn't get anything to apply.

I am not sure if this is better or worse than the AMD version but the price seems much better.

Free expedited shipping. Not sure when it will come.

Same here. Expedited shipping shows 1/2-1/4 for me. Can't wait. My Hp Omen 17t with the i7-9750h and rtx 2080 200w has been struggling.

The order emails were sort of garbled that were sent to me, thanks for the date. The website doesn't actually show any order details when I click the order number either. I know it's in the system since I worked with a chat sales person for the quote and they charged me lol. Also did expedited shipping and got like $140 or something in rewards

FYI on the site when ordered it said delivery is in January, but this thing just shipped for delivery on 12/19, so these look like they might be shipping out way faster than what the site says when you place the order, I placed my order on the 12th, so that is a total 7 day from order placed to delivery when the site said expected in 12/29 to 1/4 when I placed the order.

Good to know. I placed mine yesterday so that would make it 12/22. Trying not to get my hopes up though lol

Will this run Stable Diffusion?
Yup, but SD doesn't require crazy hardware to run once. I run it fine on my 3070ti (8GB GPU vs the 24GB here). It'll make a difference for speed, and maybe resolution - but you're probably wanting a cloud setup if you're trying to scale it.
