Have an international trip next week. Grabbed 2 (maximum) of these deals a couple weeks ago. One for each account. The prices are fair, especially at $19 or 62% off the data they're providing. There is also a 10% off coupon code WINTERFUN10 but that does not appear to stack with the "AloCash" from this deal.
I don't see the concern about the lifetime deal verbiage. It clearly says that the AloCash stays in the account. When you spend it on an eSIM that data is good for however long is stipulated, usually between 7-30 days. Just read about what you're buying.
seems that a big issue is setting the apn to either 'alosim' or 'aloSIM', hopefully this works well in Japan.
I haven't tried alo in Japan, but I just used it in Amsterdam and Iceland and it worked like a charm. I had a hiccup on my phone (T-mo) because I hadn't finished paying off the handset, so I paid the $17 via chat to Tmo and, once the phone was unlocked, it loaded up. The wife's phone (also Tmo but paid off) auto-installed per their instructions without a hitch.
The credit does expire after one year. Work around for keeping the credit for longer is to buy the SIM cards for where you know you will go before the credit expires. Then the SIM cards will hold the balance in definitely, until they are activated.

Just got back from a Japan trip. I never heard of the Japanese carrier they use, but it worked well even in very remote areas of Wakayama. Flawless and fast in cities.
Was wonky trying to use my Talkatone US phone number and sending texts on iphone as my usual US phone number on AT&T without paying for their international service, though.
I activated the deal, did everything to activate the esim the day before leaving. Switched the active sim to alosim and edited try the APN on the plane, and worked when I landed! I had both an iphone and Android. I think the iphone required a reboot.
Looked at prices for europe and it showed 10gb 30 days for $37, checked mobimatter and it showed the same for $12...not sure if this "deal" is even worth it.

I check china for 10G it shows 28, but nomad have it for 15, so didn't save much
Must check their list for esim compatible phones. Several Samsung Galaxy US version are not compatible with their esim. I was not able to install their esim on Samsung Galaxy s20 5g US version. If not sure buy their $3 cheapest esim and try to install before you spend $19 on stacksocial.
Not to TC, but when we travel to Italy, we usually buy the local sim card for tourists. Last time they gave me 90GB and unlimited calls (unheard of in the US) for $20.

The "lifetime" is super misleading- the SIM card itself will work forever...but all the credit on it expires.
Buyer Beware.
edit: some misinformation in comments below about your credit never expiring
"Purchased coupon must be redeemed and used within 12 months"

I had no problem using this in Japan this last October. Just need to turn off 5g and use 4g only. Never had complaints with the speed.
