I worked as a small engine mechanic for a year or 2 in college. Do yourself a favor and save $300 for your retirement by just buying a used one on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist/offerup. I see good clean mowers for $50-100 all day(Make sure it's not warmed up already when you check it out). Main thing is to not let gas sit for 7-8 months(gunks up carb). You really don't get any serous issues from simple mowers like these. They usually last 10+ years. All the problems come from the self propelled system, gearbox goes bad or self propelled wheels strip on the inside. Long as you change the oil once every year or 2 these mowers are all one and the same for home owners. Almost never saw a push mower with a blown engine was always carb issues or gearbox. Now if you're doing commercial it might be a little different. But even those guys I see all the time with simple residential push mowers. The more bells & whistles the more that will break.
