I would not compare these to Bose QCs for comfort or B&W for sound, and I think the sound on the XM4s is better also. ANC turns off if headphones are not connected to a device via bluetooth. People with a larger head circumference may find the earcups shallow which may make ears hurt with long wear (this happens with my spouse). FWIW, we have several other headphones and earbuds - airpods, sony WF-XB700, soundcore Q30 ANC, soundcore liberty 4 NC and the sony 720N. I find the sound on the sony earbuds and headphones to be much better than the soundcores and airpods BUT, and this is a big BUT for me, the call quality on the sonys stinks and the airpods have become less and less reliable if any other bluetooth devices are connected to my iphone. I have found myself carrying airpods (for calls), the sony XB700 (for working out, the airpods just fall out of my ears), and the sony 720N (for flights) on recent trips. My spouse on the other hand, uses the liberty 4 NCs for everything. After feeling guilty about my first world problems for many months, I bit the bullet and ordered the soundcore A40s. Will be able to compare sound and comfort/ease of use for travel soon.
Edit: Received the A40s today, adjusted sound via app and tested side by side with the liberty 4s and Sonys. The sound on Sony 720N and WF-XB700 is still significantly better (richer, fuller sound out of the box, no tinkering needed) than both the soundcore earbuds. The ANC on the 720Ns is also better.
IMHO, if you are buying for music, movies etc in loud environments, the 720s or even the XB700 is a better choice. If you want a do-it-all and dont mind sacrificing a little sound quality, get something like the soundcores. My airpods have already gone on FB marketplace...

Edit, I'm not a fan of how they don't fold up for storage

One thing I noticed is they will shut off in about 15 minutes unless you disable the power saver mode. This is annoying on a flight when I am trying to sleep and all of a sudden, things get loud because they shut off automatically. Disabling power saver should resolve that.
