Two 5 1/4" woofers with a passive radiator will likely hit similarly hard as a single 8" woofer.

These towers are flat down to around 55Hz. That's good extension to be paired with a subwoofer crossed over at 70Hz.

I really like these speakers, but prefer an 8" woofer for harder-hitting base when listening to music. Still, a great deal on this package.

Those radiators don't do much at normal listening volume in my house. Low frequency response starts dropping off at 80hz. I have my ML Descent i crossed over at 90hz and it sounds spectacular.

If you don't need a receiver or center channel
They only have white pairs in stock but 500 a pair is unbelievable when a single is 1400 on Amazon

If I need a receiver and center channel should I buy this deal or is it a better deal to buy the other one and choose my own?

I would recommend the denon 3800 over this one as that series has more advanced room correction software. If you don't care about that, though, the amplifier power is probably within spitting distance between the two models

How would one feel about a Sonos amp paired to these speakers?

I'm not familiar with the Sonos product line. What I dimly recall is likely seriously outdated - hopefully someone else could meaningfully compare them.

just buy it! its a fantastic deal and sounds great in a moderate sized room with a subwoofer. very good quality sound and easy connections. THANKS to OP for the deal. I'm thrilled with this and totally recommend for the low brow audiophile.
