never buy bargain bin Fishing gear at Walmart. Save up an extra 25.00 and go buy a 50.00 combo rod and reel at Bass Pro. You will be glad you did.
Why would I want to go to an overpriced specialty store? I bought 3 Penn combos from Walmart at different times. All of them arrived in good shape in a timely manner. Bass pro had several different rods the last time I went, but most were overpriced store brands. As long as you're familiar with what you want I would not see an issue ordering from Walmart, and they are also known to be good about returns. I've never had an issue.

I recently bought penn and it came from Penn (pure fishing) directly. I think Penn is using Walmart to offload over stock.
