That's like seeing a video about one guy with a flat tire on a Tahoe, then asking how junk like Tahoes ever made it onto the market because it doesn't do its basic function. The problem of feeding multiple sheets is likely caused by a dirty separator pad or separator roller, which can be cleaned in a couple of minutes. I just so happen to have expert level knowledge on this topic, as I worked in the office machines industry for decades.

This is actually a problem that occurs often with new paper feeding equipment, because rubber mold release compound residue can make the rubber a little slick and leads to multifeeds. Nothing to get excited about or condemn the product over.
There are 2 arrows on the left side of the feed slot for a reason. If you're feeding something less than a full width sheet, it has to be centered between those arrows, which the gentleman in the video failed to do and that's why it didn't start shredding immediately. Centered between those arrows is where the sensor is that turns on the shredder motor, which he obviously had no idea of because he didn't bother familiarizing himself with its basic function. No shredder of this type has sensors along the entire length of the feed slot; there's only one and that's why the markings are there (and it doesn't mean they "cheaped out"). People need to read their operator's manuals; all of this is spelled out very clearly. Or just read the markings on the machine itself. This ain't rocket science.

You bet. I looked around a little before posting, and it looks like the nearest competitor with a 6 gallon capacity bin and casters is Amazon Basics at $109.00. I couldn't find Sam's club price for this one, but my guess is that it sold in-store for $100-$120.

They have the same type but without the auto feeder for like $60. Micro cut size is the same dimensions. Id jump on this if I didn't already have one I recently bought

What a shame, looked like a great price. I was surprised the complaint wasn't about the manual feeder, as he had to fiddle with the documents a bit before the shredder detected them.

Edit: bad reviews aside, OP says further below that autofeed issues can often be solved with some diligent pre-cleaning.

How do these junk products make it onto the market, do they think people just won't notice that it doesn't do its basic function?

Can anyone recommend a good decently priced shredder that can handle full letters?

No, we're referring to the manual feeder function. It's in the first 10 seconds of the video. The guy clearly has those documents deep into the shredder and it still didn't start. I think the manufacturer cheaped out and didn't put sensors across the entire feeding slot. Forget about the auto-shredder, the manual shredder doesn't even work very well.

Fwiw I bought this one last fall and it's held up pretty well for me. Does what I need it to do, no issues, currently about $38: Amazon Basics 6 Sheet Cross Cut Paper and Credit Card Home Office Shredder with 3.8 Gallon Bin, Black https://a.co/d/eQoRxsI

Great. I get to watch someone who has no idea what they're doing fail, then blame the machine. I guarantee you that the inside of the enclosed operator's manual never once saw the light of day. Today's society in a nutshell. Make it idiot proof and the world comes up with a better idiot.

$47.69 after tax is a great price
