The recommendation is actually to buy the cheapest filters always as the better/thicker filters supposedly kill your HVAC faster. If you need additional filtration they say its best to use separate air purifiers. Not saying I agree, but that's what I've always been told by HVAC workers.

This has been always the same. Bulk price almost always available or at least with intervals. I buy fpr 7 all the time.

Place I live expects me to replace filter on a monthly basis.

I think I read that is way over kill, and I think there's even a recommendation on the packaging stating up to 90 days is sufficient.

When I looked into it, most people said in this kind of circumstance (i.e. when renting a place), to just buy the cheapest filters if it really is expected they be changed monthly.

Bought my last set of filters for same price in September. It's not a special deal but you have to wait for it to drop down to this price again.

The FPR 10 version (black in color) is just a couple bucks more. If you have babies / children / pets at home that seems to be the way to go. Also make the deal sweeter with subscription. Savings of 5%.

Thanks!

Different quality filters last for different lengths of time. Most people renting are not going to put in higher dollar long lasting filters when the cheap fiberglass are available unless they have health concerns etc.

I like the 3M better in this case (and almost always) because it has less resistant because the there are many more pleat meaning a lot more surface area for the air to flow through.

The filter material on the 3M might be 4x as much if stretched out.

Thanks.

I just so happened to have 4-5 merv 12 or merv 13 filters laying around. Which should more than tide me over for a full year.

Didn't want to have to buy any more, just to change them out every month, especially if not really necessary.

Do they require you to submit receipts showing that you purchased filters every month? Otherwise I can't see how they could even enforce this. Even if they did though, you could always just buy a bulk order of them at home depot and return 2/3 of them.

Fortunately no.

I think it's just something that is written into the lease, that they haven't yet asked me about (I've been there just over 3 months).

Mine takes the huge 20x25x4 which are never on sale and start at $30+, but they last 6+ months. I do see a "contractor grade" HDX that size for $19, but I cannot speak for quality. I usually end up with the high end 3M ones that are $40+
