Will this trail camera work for small animals like a rodent? I have a rodent trap that keeps getting cleared out with no idea how they are thwarting it (ie bait just gone but no triggering). I was thinking of setting a camera up to see what I'm dealing with.
No glow or bust. At least you have a chance of hiding it well enough to where someone passing by (trespassing) doesn't see it or the flash and leaves it alone.

Is it close to your house? You're probably better off with an outdoor battery powered security camera that connects to Wi-Fi if so. Wyze, Ring, Nest, etc
I think this could trigger for smaller animals if positioned well

I haven't tried any of the cell trail cameras, but on my Aunt's property the most inexpensive decent cameras that seem to work are the Garde Pro A3[amazon.com] and the Garde Pro E6[amazon.com] (has WIFI, but I disable it to save battery life). They both have good trigger times, excellent quality videos, and they are durable enough to last 2 or 3 years.
I've had lots of these trail cameras over the years, and the worst one so far has been the Ceyomur that Amazon had on sale a year or so ago for $25. That one I definitely got what I paid for - it rarely triggered and didn't have very high quality videos.
Surprisingly a $125 Browning camera was also one of the worst, so now that I've found these Garde Pro cameras do an excellent job at an affordable price plus they're pretty durable, that's about all I'm buying. None last much more than 2 or 3 years, so you might as well get the best you can as cheaply as possible.

I go that route too, but also put them ~9+ up. If necessary, I place a small precut angled wedge 2x4 behind it to face it slightly downward.
I'm near public land and this helps prevent trespassers from walking off with them on a whim. Putting them in a security box helps too. Just afraid they'll still the antenna is all if they're lower.
