I bought a pack of syringes off the rainforest despot to refill my Lamy converter without getting ink all over my fingers. I definitely recommend getting syringes.

Agree, I also prefer syringes over the converters. I have the same pilot pen and has been refilling the original ink cartridge successfully for months. I have a lamy with the converter and I like the syringe better.
That's really more practical. In one of my pens (maybe a Safari) 1/3 of the reservoir gets immediately pushed in, just to fill the void inside the pen itself. I just rotate 3 pens and refill all the them when third one is empty.
