The performance between the i5-12600k and Ryzen 7600 is very similar. Really just a platform choice. AM5 might have a future. LGA 1700 does not after 14th gen. I went with AM5 and the 7600X it's been a very stable system so far. I do wish I would have waited and just got the 12600k when it was down to $99 on Black Friday tho

The 14th gen Intel has 20 cores and can run circles around the AMD currently (which caps out).

So what would you be doing that you need more than 20 cores? And when on the AMD road map is it going to catch up with the Intel platform?

Comes really down to "do you waste money upgrading a CPU every year?"

Kind of like leasing vs buying a car I guess.

Performance per watt on these am5 chips are crayyyyy

It allows a much better headroom for lower power supply for people

Intel still can run hot but overclock better too higher freq

And my 4 wheeled vehicle can get to the same destination as yours so the auto anology doesn't quite work for the point you are trying to convey

People have different use cases and needs; costs and longevity being potentially more important because socket type of each platform because Intel is leaving lga1700 while amd is beginning am5

There's opportunity cost here

Low heat ,old psu, better price, support the competition because monopolies are bad for everyone.
