They're both 2.5GB so you're still ahead on total bandwidth. Nice deal for an 8-bay NAS. Wish Synology would step into the 2020s with their hardware.
back when i had a full blown QNAP setup with fail over mirror servers and the whole nine yards, i had (3) direct to ethernet connections to the (3) fail over mirror servers thus utilizing 0 actual network traffic.
the fact they only include 2 on this thing, making you need to buy expansion accessory to bring it to 4, is ridiculous
i'm kind of shocked QNAP would cheapen out, they are typically known for the hardware vs synology (synology known for software). oh well. it's moot. after QNAP's blatant failed handling of qsnatch and their support's middle finger they gave to people during the throws of covid, i ditched them all together and moved on

I know they had security issues but thought they had moved past them. Knock on wood my DS1515 with the Intel Atom timebomb is still going strong. Fingers crossed.
Not sure why people are downvoting you. The internet is a weird place sometimes.

Qnap is better hardware *generally* and terrific hacks all the time. Their software ain't that good as Synology.
Synology is good UI good security and features etc but they are the Apple of NAS, every damn spec like RAM etc is way over priced and CPU is underpowered all the time unless you pay freaking $$$.
Pick your poison or just build your own NAS.

Pair this with a Nvidia quadro p400 p600 or p1000 makes a nice plex server. Make sure to get fullsize bracket version for PCI slot mounting. Without this 873a does not make a good plex server. No intel quicksync or GPU on chip

they have moved past those particular security issues
but to this day, no one at QNAP can explain how the customers who had the app internet services disabled, were still infected with qsnatch.
QNAP claimed it was fixed with a patch.
then it happened again.
and then again
QNAP even put a rep onto the QNAP reddit sub to try and calm the tsunami and provide more personalized support and diagnostic. they were investigating and combing through logs that were being provided. then covid went into full swing and QNAP stopped giving a F. stopped answering the phone. stopped providing support. and gave everyone the middle finger. they simply stopped caring, and blamed it on an exploit in their app used to create backups and encrypted backups (the irony)
that is why they lost many customers for good, including myself
still to this day, 0 explanation how or why customers who were not using HBS or ANY of QNAP's app suite and had those services completely disabled, were infected with qsnatch.
the theory on the reddit sub at the time, was that the infection actually was on QNAP's end, made it's way into the firmware security updates itself, and that's how it got onto those particular systems.

Keep in mind, this is only if you want to do transcoding.
If you're streaming locally, this will spit out 4K content to multiple clients with no trouble at all.
Moreover, it might be worth looking into some of the Intel based mini PCs that can handle QuickSync for not much more than a Quadro.

I thought it's an AM4 or AM5 socket. How I wish I can put 16/32 thread CPU.
I am still rocking my old i7 powered Qnap. I thought this would be an upgrade.
