I researched these and decided this was the best option for a beginner, especially for the price. It does take a lot of space though.
Also, it appears this bundle is created by opening the box and adding the vinyl. The mat came badly curled and I don't know if this will affect the prints/cuts.

You can do a lot with the Explore Air 2. The included instructions are pretty good, and there are literally thousands of YouTube videos for learning to do every aspect of using the Cricut.
I originally bought this model on the Black Friday deal, but then decided to get the "New-Open Box" Cricut Maker for $20 more, on sale from cricut.com. The Maker is a stronger machine and accepts several more cutters, and it also includes the rotary cutter blade (which is Cricut's best tool for fabric cutting) and a FabricGrip mat. The Maker model also checks to make sure you inserted the correct tool, which has already prevented me from making a few errors and kept me from wasting some fabric. FYI, the Maker doesn't include the tool set (sells for $10.99) or sample vinyl pack (which are only 6"x6").
Damn you, SD. I didn't know I wanted one of these. Just spent the last 15min watching videos and now I want a Cricut Maker. Also, I have been reading their name wrong. I thought it was circuit, not cricut.
This is a really great price for what you get. Steep learning curve for anyone without any design experience (photoshop/illustrator) or general computer knowledge. Will require lots of YouTube research for people new to design. But to make it easy, you can always buy the designs on etsy and just drop them into Cricut Design Space.
I read on some comments a while back that they make these pretty much unusable after some time to force you to get a newer version is that still the case?
Is this good for a beginner? How difficult is it to use?
I've never touched one of these in my whole life until I got one on Black Friday sale... this same bundle from Walmart. It didn't complete setup so I just skipped directly to cutting some stuff... super easy to use. I havent done anything complicated using multiple layers or anything... But I did download a heavy metal looking font and used Bing AI to make an image then printed that out in the cricut and ironed it on a shirt... super easy. Indistinguishable from store bought... That was a big 12 inch by 12 inch image... With the scraps from the border I easily cut out more little 8 bit graphics to iron on inside of a jacket. I've made dozens and dozens of decals... no issues at all aside from trying to make them too small for the amount of detail in them which makes them very hard to "weed". Thats when you use the dental pick thing to stab thru the vinyl and yank out all the parts that arent gonna be in the final sticker.
I dunno jack about the software that comes with it... and Im not gonna pay for any of their designs if I can just grab a Bullet Bill PNG offa google and slap that on a shirt or sticker... No need for their live laugh love junk when I already got my own ideas.
I had no idea it would be this easy and fun... One yellow sheet I made like 80 Pacman stickers... now I can put Pacmans everwhere... came with enough colors I can do the ghosts too.

I have the original Cricut Explore from 2015 and still using it.
I also got this deal when it was on Black Friday (or Cyber Monday maybe?).
The initial set up doesn't work properly as others have said. Just skip that part (they want you to make a demo project but it doesn't work). It then works fine.
Be aware that the included vinyl sheets are WAY smaller than I thought they would be. The are 6x6" squares -- not full size 12x12" which is what I would have guessed looking at the picture for some reason. Also the "included" images are hard to find and they are pretty much worthless anyway. The tools are nice.

The application seems pretty intuitive, but once I watched a few YouTube videos it was much easier to understand what to do.
Their software is super buggy and support is really bad. Takes several days to respond and it's all canned responses.
I'd save the money and look at something else. The explore Air 2 has problems with initial setup that they can't seem to fix.
