I have been using the mother lode jr travel backpack for the last 6 years for traveling. It is perfect for those who likes to travel light. Between this backpack and a carry on, it is perfect for up to a 10 day trip.

The only thing I wish it had was a suitcase strap/sleeve.

I've had the Slim since 2017 and just last week received a compliment on it. That bag has been to four continents, dozens of countries, and hundreds of trips to the office, and still looks great. Not a zipper broken, not a loose thread. I don't love the look, but I also don't mind it. I'd like to upgrade to something more aesthetically pleasing but I can't find anything that compares to the functionality.

I also recommend Mother Lode Jr. It "fits" underneath the seat for carriers who are not stringent on bag size (e.g. delta).

For clarification, are you saying delta *is* or *is not* strict on bag size for "personal item" that goes under the seat

They aren't strict at all.

I have never had any issues with using the mother lode Jr as a personal item (in addition to my roller carry on) with any airline in the last 6 years. I have flown with United, American, Frontier, Alaska, Delta, Southwest and Jet Blue.

I just did a 21 day international trip with a Mother Lode (albeit the DLX which is not on sale). Really loved the flexibility of just throwing anything into it at any time and ease of access to get things back. I have been using a Pro Slim as my main backpack since the early days of ebags (long before being acquired by Samsonite)

That's a deal breaker. A luggage strap is a must for traveling. so useful

I like the functional of the weekender but the handle is trash. It's held by elastic that stretches out so bad it doesn't retract back into the bag as it should.

Wait, the listing photos on ebay show a luggage strap? Is that because your version is older, or is the image wrong? I agree with the other guy that it feels pretty necessary to have for travel.

Good catch. You are right, I have the older version (purchased in 2017) before they redesigned it in 2019.

Is the Mother Lode Jr water resistant? Can't find evidence of that anywhere.

No, I wouldn't consider the material water resistant.

I'm not sure if I have this exact same bag or if its slightly different... but I really like the quality. I've had it for about 4 years, and its in great shape still, and it feels and looks good. No complaints.
