I have the complete opposite experience with my base M1 macbook air. I use office all day with excel open and 20 odd chrome tabs/spotify/mail/ but never run into slowdown. I want to upgrade but dont see the point.

I have a Macbook Air 8GB, M1, no matter what people say, if you just use it for MS Office, 8GB wont cut it and will slow down during heavy use all day for work. I have a 32GB mac now (studio i got for $1300 on marketplace) and full MS Office use sits at 12GB. This is a great deal, 16GB is min if you want to smoothly use just Office stuff.

This happens to be the worse color to keep it looking new/clean over time though, be aware.
