I have the complete opposite experience with my base M1 macbook air. I use office all day with excel open and 20 odd chrome tabs/spotify/mail/ but never run into slowdown. I want to upgrade but dont see the point.

Yes, single 256gb vs dual 128gb or some such nonsense iirc. Slightly slower in synthetic benchmarks. I have no real world comparison testing exp tho

I agree. I have M1 8GB and it suffers from Chrome.

Why does Apple still insist on 256GB? It's 2024 nearly and storage is cheap. No reason they can't have a little something on the back that pops open and allows an nvme drive expansion if they are going to be chinch.

I was caught up in this too while debating whether to get one or the other. However, is there even that difference in speed in real world that would have noticeable difference in performance? I mean I would like to get top of the line machine for that price but what if the difference is only milliseconds 🤷🏼 ♂️
