My dog (Boston terrier) chewed on this and ate a not-so-small piece. He had to go under surgery so the vet can remove the piece from his intestine. Costed me around 4k and lots of pain to my dog.. be careful with this stick … make sure your dog does not chew on this aggressively

Wow, so sorry to hear, I will have to keep a closer eye on my Aussie doodle when he chews on this. He mostly likes to play fetch / tug with it.

Sadly, there are infinite objects a dog can chew to get in big trouble. Do you feel there is something inherently defective with the stick?

Take care of your pups, and best to stay away from unknown dog parks/gathering until the respiratory illness situation improves in the States.

Hope your terrier makes a full recovery! And your wallet

I wouldn't say this toy is defective, but it is very soft and easily comes apart in chunks. My dog has one, and I never let her keep it to chew on. Only use it for fetch now, and then I take it away.

Out of all the toys I bought for my pup, Amazon basics dog toys are surprisingly ones of the toughest. Thank you for your suggestion Smilie

Not giving you a hard time. But, all toys given to dogs should be supervised.
And, if you notice toys starting to break down, then it's time to throw them away immediately.
Your experience is why it should be that way.

Sorry to hear that, I have found the chuckit brand balls hold up well for chewers.

Like others have stated, my dog chewed this stick to bits in one extended fetch play session.

What's the respiratory illness situation in the states?

Staying on topic....... Do NOT buy this stick if your dog chews. Chuckit balls are good. NOT THIS!

We have a 50 lb terrier who is a chewaholic. This is a great item in his toy mix, but agree it should be supervised and rotate in/out. He's getting a new one in his stocking. But also, I've never paid more than $5 for this item.

For heavy chewers, I highly recommend West Paw's bone! Again, my pup is a heavy heavy chewer - so even that lasts maybe 4-6 weeks.
