The problem with almost everything since the original trilogy is they lean so hard on Jedi, Sith, and the force. It's charm was in world building, but aside from the old Expanded Universe we've seen almost no actual space opera, and only super-hero stories. So you can keep your zillionth force super hero threat, I just want classic Zahn written Thrawn.
Have you read the Thrawn books? Rebels and Ashoka are much more interesting and enjoyable if you have. Thrawn isn't more powerful than the Emperor, but he's extremely intelligent and a master tactician. It's awesome because he doesn't need the Force to crush his enemies. However, he doesn't feel as evil in the books as Filoni writes him for screen; I prefer the neutral Thrawn that only helps the Empire to protect the Chiss Ascendancy.
