Not so much if you're planning for 4K very complex projects. But for normal 1080p and basic 4k editing, will be okay, provided you upgrade the ram to at least 16GB.

Hmm. I just bought my son the HP Victus with the Ryzen 7 5700g, 32gig ram and 6600xt for $609. Is this a better deal? He plays steam games, modded Terraria and possibly Oculus VR

Sure, just use proxies as you edit. I agree with the others about RAM - get more. And at least one additional hard drive (you can work up to four later). NVME is fast and, if bought as an internal drive, pretty reasonable.

I agree about the ram. I saw this build and was like meh, not bad, then the 8GB ram? its not even a price thing at that point just stilly to include it with so little. Thats like building a Ferrai with a 2g gas tank.

Any good deals anyone can share about a system I can get for my son before xmas in a similar price range? (yeah I procastinated) He plays fortnite and simlar at 1080p currently on a 1050 ti system. I have an amazon and costco membership. Hes got a monitor with 144hz refresh rate and all his gaming gear, just need to get him a better tower.

Thanks!

Dang, if this had a non F variant cpu, it would be great for a plex server....and you'd have a spare gpu to use or resell.

8gb ram is a joke.....but easily fixable.

Yes also agree, if it had onboard video that you could salvage that video card and it would be worth at like I dunno 1/2 the system? 8GB ram is so silly because of the price differnce and also how easy and cheap it is to fix.

Also appears that the MB PCB is fabricated for 4 ram slots just too cheap or "scaling" to not install the ram slots.

This is a guy reviewing it which I think is basically the same system:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1...echGuyBeau

I like how he takes tape measurements of stuff.

but anyway, about the PSU, doesnt look like it really. Looks like it could take a standard size PSU replacement but the MB doesnt fully take standard ATX stuff so kinda moot. (well possible but not practical)

If this had 16gb of ram and a non-F cpu I might bite.

Also I find that after making upgrades above said dude didnt really seem to have all that impressive improvments... meaning if you want this for what it is, okay I guess, but not really the best base system to start with and go upgrade crazy.

CPU 13400F is worth $200 bucks, 3050 is worth $180. PSU is weak. Adding 8GB of Ram is like $15. If you don't need anything crazy, it is a nice productivity and light gaming machine.

I got the i5 12400, RTX 3060 version back in May for $699. I am happy with it.

What is deal with 1x HDMI and 1x VGA considering the graphics card? It looks like only motherboard ports are available in rear?
