Quality of the lights and the effects look great. I like how it transitions between colors. I haven't had a chance to test it with any sound integrations (Spotify). It's not built directly into the app and requires a 3rd party integration.
I actually used these string lights for my banister instead of a tree. One thing I didn't realize is that the system is split into a Y. One fork for the top of the tree and one fork for the bottom - so it's not one *long* string light. And each fork has a dedicated wire to the base. Not necessarily bad - just not something I considered when I bought it.

I'm using them in a Google Home ecosystem, with a Nest Hub acting as my Matter border router. I first added the strings to Google Home via Matter (nice little pop-up on my phone when I plugged them in prompting me to add them), then I downloaded the Nanoleaf app and added them in there. I had no issues adding in Google Home (via Matter) or in the Nanoleaf app.
Once they were updated to 1.2.2, everything was fine. I did notice before the update that they were a little slow to respond to commands, wouldn't respond to the "Identify" command in the Nanoleaf app, etc. - so I can see how people would've described them as glitchy w/o updating FW.
I think a lot of Best Buy customers probably bought these either before the new FW was available, or didn't bother updating. They also may have paid full price, which - with those two factors combined - definitely explain why they'd want to dump some very harsh reviews on these.
Running the recent FW, and for only $45? I don't have one, single complaint. Great deal on some beautiful lights with amazing colors and effects.
