AT&T - 128GB iPhone 15 Plus $5.99 a month w/ 36 Month Agreement (Starts 12/16)

AT&T will be offering the iPhone 15 Plus for $5.99 a month over 36 months, no trade in required for new or existing customers. Deal starts tomorrow December 16 - 26th

iPhone 15 Plus 128GB for $5.99 a month ($19.85 bill credit / month)
iPhone 15 Plus 256GB for $10.99 a month ($17.63 bill credit / month)
iPhone 15 Plus 512GB for $15.99 a month ($18.18 bill credit / month)

Key terms
  • You're buying the phone at full price, and AT&T will be providing bill credits to offset the full price each month, for 36 months, netting out to $5.99 for the device.
  • You must stay with AT&T for 36 months. You'll receive credits each month to offset cost of device. If you cancel wireless service within 36 months, your credits will end and you'll owe the remaining balance on the device.
  • Be on an eligible unlimited plan (any unlimited plan for existing customer, or cheapest starter)
  • No Trade in Required

I know Sd'ers hate bill credits and long term agreements, but this is a solid deal for many att customers who don't have a device to trade in - $215 over 36 months for a $929 phone.

First deal post...hope Im doing this right Smilie

Will AT$T unlock the device before the agreement ends 3 years later?

Does it work with the unlimited starter plan or just the more expensive ones?

Is there a cheaper plan than the $65/ month att unlimited starter plan? $65+$6x36 months = $2556 is a lot to shell out over 3 years.

How does this work out for someone with a current iPhone still in their 2 or 3 year plan with ATT?
If theres no trade, do you have to pay that one off?

Any unlimited plan!

Activate/keep postpaid eligible unlimited voice & data wireless service (min. $75/mo. if new before discounts. Existing customers can add to their current unlimited plan, if eligible, which may be less). AT&T may temporarily slow data speeds if the network is busy.

Yes, you'd need to pay off current device, but you'd forego those remaining credits if that is applicable in your situation. If you have a recent device the existing promos where you trade in device may be more beneficial.

Thats the cheapest unless you have multiple lines or are a teacher/first responder (25% off)

You have to pay off the balance of the phone. The website shows how much of the balance you've paid off. Given that you're getting a $929 phone for $5.99 a month most likely means they give you a monthly credit.

E.g. 929/36 = $25.80 - 5.99 = 19.81 Credit per month

Which means if you want to buy the phone after 24 months you would owe a balance of 12*25.80 = 309.6

I've mentioned this in past posts. But the benefit of a contract phone is having multiple lines.

$2556 is the cost of the line for 3 years. Minus the cost of the phone at 929 = $1627 / 36 = $45.19 a month. Most unlimited providers that actually have decent connection speeds are around that price. But let's take the same equation into a 3 line plan:

Price per line - $45
Phone 5.99
= 51.99 *36 = 1871.64 - 929 = 942.64 / 36 = $26.18 per line per month....all of a sudden it doesn't look so bad anymore.

Something doesn't look right with the calculation. Didn't you minus 929 twice, once to get to the $45.19 and then again in your second calculation?
