Mobilex.com is offering a $4.08/ month basic plan ( based on a $1.98 monthly platform fee plus $2.10 per GB of data) **IDK if taxes are added**

This MVNO uses Verizon towers.

I wonder how many minutes & texts you get? Maybe it is all a cafeteria deal where you choose how many you want.

I wonder if I turn data OFF, would I have a really cheap kids emergency only phone?

They seem to have basic minute pkgs of 50/50 (talk/text) for $1.50/mo.

Also 150 talk/150 text for $2.50/month.

They even offer a No Talk/Text option for $0.00 - could be used to park a number, if you turn off the data, too, for a total of $1.98 per month.

Yep, it would be nice to know from existing user what's the final cost (after all the taxes) for the $2.50 plan.

Probably, but if you turn data off and choose the zero minutes option (use WiFi calling) it may be $2 a month. IDK

Yes. At this $4 price, we may as well pay the $5 a month and get twigby (on VZ towers) and get 2Gb data plus unltd talk & text. But this price is only good for the first 3 months. oops.

The $1.98 platform fee applies to all lines-- basically, it's their charge for hosting your number. Anything else is added on top of the platform fee.

How can you get the $5 plan after 3 months?

Tello has $6 1GB or $7 2GB. If you need Verizon I'd go with $10 US Mobile (2GB)

Usually wifi-calling uses the minutes and texts in your base plan; it just goes over wifi instead of cellular. Not like whatsapp / messenger etc where it doesn't use your plan.

unless somehow it's all cost around $2 and then it's cheaper. Red pocket have $5/month plan ( $60/year) if you want to have some talk/text and data

MobileX minimum will be around $4.20 to $4.50 - the $2 is just holding fee plus the platform fee and tax. WiFi calling still pulls minutes and text from your service plan - it doesn't use data like a VoIP provider or service; thus if you choose "0 minutes" you will have no calling on the plan period.

Only issue is not all providers ( I know tello does) but this carrier in op May not allow wifi calling

I didn't read it closely. I think you are right. That's a deal killer.
