Currently have a '19 CX-5 with 20k mi. It's been at the dealership for the last 3 weeks because the tranny died. At least it's under warranty and they give me a rental Mazda.

It's nice to see a decent vehicle retailing for under $30K plus cash incentives. The market has finally gotten to a point where it's completely walking away from $80,000 F150s, and Big 3 dealers are in a serious panic because they have way more money tied up in vehicles than what the market will pay for them. Every bubble eventually bursts, and I see a wave of dealership bankruptcies coming. Hard to pity them after their $10,000 "market adjustments".

I'll get downvoted for this, but check insurance rates before you pull the trigger on this - they may have immobilizers now, but Kia Boyz don't know the difference. Also, you'll want to check your oil every time you stop for gas, and keep the receipts for every single oil change if you want that 10 year warranty to cover the eventual engine replacement.

Once they get out of the driveway with it, the likelihood that it will be totaled is pretty high. That's if it's even recovered at all. The new trend is shipping stolen cars overseas.
Very true. I witnessed a stolen Kia Forte crash in my North NJ neighborhood. A bunch of teens stole it from a nearby Enterprise. They led cops from two towns on a chase through a subdevelopment. Clearly the kids were not "local" because they turned down my side street. When they got to the end, they turned left toward the dead end rather than right toward the main avenue. I was walking the dog at the time. Blew past me with that tiny four cylinder screaming as they gave it full gas, turned left, lost control, jumped the curb and stopped just short of hitting a house by inches. Had they turned right and lost control, they'd have killed a neighbor, who was gardening at the time. Two cops were trailing the Forte, and immediately stopped. Two more arrived shortly afterwards. There were four kids in the Forte and they scattered heading toward the main street. All were eventually apprehended. The Forte was likely messed up from jumping the curb at full speed.

As a Hyundai owner, I follow the related subreddit and people post the aftermath of their recovered Hyundais. A lot of them were totalled, and a few get chopped. For example, one guy's recovered Elantra had no engine, transmission or electronics.

Luckily both of my Hyundais have push button start. Typically, the "Kia Boyz" skip over cars with push button start. At worst, they'll break your window and leave as outlined on the Hyundai subreddits. So far, I've had no troubles (fingers crossed). But a buddy who lives in LA had his push button start Sonata stolen by a guy with a Flipper Zero. Surprisingly it was recovered a few months later. It was waiting to be shipped abroad so it was in good shape when returned. So push button start isn't full proof.

I have owned both a Tucson and a CX5. No comparison. Mazda is much higher quality and finish than Hyundai

Not in any amount of time that matters. Fleet data from 10+ years of Teslas suggests that even the oldest generation mass produced ones (the 1st gen 18650s in the Model S) are still retaining near 90% charge after 10 years/200,000 miles.... meaning except in rare cases the battery will outlast the typical lifetime of a car. And again that's the oldest, least advanced ones.

Data suggests newer ones will last 500,000 miles for non-LFPs, and likely 1,000,000 miles for LFPs. Both FAR above the average # of miles any car sees in its lifetime.
that's nice. are those tesla batteries and software in this hyundai? glad we won't have to worry about piles of lithium batteries for 10-20 years, by then it'll be someone else's problem.

Why did you got with AWD given you live in Arizona?
To go snowboarding up North in Flagstaff. That way I won't have to deal with snow tire chains when there is a lot of snow up there.

Maybe they want to insure their car from climate change and the possibility of snow in AZ. 🧐

Glad to see it. I bought a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe in April after waiting over a year (totaled previous car) and the dealers were pretty terrible. No negotiating. Terrible service. Terrible salesman. Terrible experience.

Unfortunately a lot of the Hyundai dealers here in Vegas do "market adjustment" $3-5K on every vehicle.
You can buy it in LA for cheaper and they lowered the price by $1500 off MSRP, and this was in last year. Of course there would be extra tax, but still way cheaper than in AZ.

Too bad most of dealerships will likely survive. I don't hate car manufacturers, just dealerships. Greedy dealership jacking up prices when they are already making a killing from selling at msrp.

how exactly is Tesla changing their game? They jacked up their car pricing the most and now their EVs are crashing in prices the most.......

As result majority of model Y owners are horribly underwater on their vehicle. Not something I would be recommending others to do....
lmao what the hell? yeah ok, Tesla was the only car company to do this sure uh huh. part shortages only apply to Tesla and no one else.

I have the PHEV Tucson. If you are a big dude I recommend it. Comfortable and decent with gas if your commute is under 60 miles a day.

I always find it hilarious how the left and liberals praised musk as if he was the second coming of christ years ago, only for elon, being the asperger and autist he is, unable to deny his common sense absolutely trash liberal mental disorders, in turn changing the views of every single liberal to denounce anything to do with him. i dont know why, maybe it is just a observation i have noticed, but funny nonetheless
lol and team Red went from hating him to loving him the crazier he got.....

He's just a Howard Hughes of our era.
